Noted nutrition expert, award winning food journalist and television personality CAROLYN O’NEIL, MS, RD shares her refreshing food philosophy- “The More You Know, The More You Can Eat!” She is a registered dietitian and award-winning author and journalist who reported on food and travel at CNN for nearly 20 years. Carolyn is the co-author of The Dish on Eating Healthy and Being Fabulous! (Simon & Schuster, Atria Books) – Winner “Best Health and Nutrition Book” at the World Food Media awards.

Carolyn’s NEW cookbook is available now online for pre-order and will be published in December 2013 by Oxmoor House. It’s a Southern Living cookbook on healthy Southern foods called Slim Down South: Eating Well and Living Healthy in the Land of Biscuits and Bacon!

Carolyn writes a weekly column for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “Healthy Eating Out”, contributes to WebMD as a nutrition expert and famously appears on the Food Network as “The Lady of the Refrigerator” a recurring nutrition expert on Alton Brown’s hit Food Network program Good Eats. Her blogs are ONeil on Eating and Dish On Dieting.

A celebrated food writer, specializing in dining out, Carolyn is a contributor to The Atlantan Magazine, a Modern Luxury publication.

Carolyn is the Health & Nutrition Editor for Healthy Travel Magazine.

Carolyn is a nutrition advisor to BestFoodFacts.org which answers consumers’ questions on food, nutrition, cuisine and agriculture by tapping into a network of 150 university based experts to find the best food facts!

As a journalist specializing in food and nutrition Carolyn is a contributor and called upon as a nutrition expert for quotes in many national magazines including including Self, Shape, Cooking Light, Redbook, Family Circle and WebMD Magazine. Carolyn O’Neil is an adjunct professor of Journalism at Emory University.

Carolyn’s CNN reporting on food and health earned three James Beard Foundation Awards. She is a member of the James Beard Who’s Who in Food and Beverage.

In addition Carolyn is a member of the National Committee overseeing judging of the James Beard Foundation Awards.

The American Heart Association, The Institute of Food Technologists, The American Dietetic Association and The National Restaurant Association have presented O’Neil with awards for food and nutrition education.

Carolyn O’Neil has a master’s degree in Nutrition with a specialization in Communication from Boston University and an undergraduate degree in Foods and Nutrition with a minor in English from Florida State University. She completed her Dietetic Internship at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, San Diego. Carolyn is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
