Noted nutrition expert, award winning food journalist and television personality CAROLYN O’NEIL, MS, RD shares her refreshing food philosophy- “The More You Know, The More You Can Eat!” She is a registered dietitian and award-winning author and journalist who reported on food and travel at CNN for nearly 20 years.

Carolyn’s cookbook called Slim Down South: Eating Well and Living Healthy in the Land of Biscuits and Bacon! By Oxmoor House is Southern Living’s first cookbook on healthy Southern foods.

Carolyn is the co-author of The Dish on Eating Healthy and Being Fabulous! (Simon & Schuster, Atria Books) – Winner “Best Health and Nutrition Book” at the World Food Media awards.

Carolyn writes a weekly column for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “Healthy Eating Out”, contributes to WebMD as a nutrition expert and famously appears on the Food Network as “The Lady of the Refrigerator” a recurring nutrition expert on Alton Brown’s hit Food Network program Good Eats.

A celebrated food writer, specializing in dining out and culinary travel, Carolyn is a contributor to the Atlanta Homes & Lifestyle Magazine and The Atlantan Magazine, a Modern Luxury publication.

As a journalist specializing in food and nutrition, Carolyn is a contributor and called upon as a nutrition expert for quotes in many national magazines including Self, Shape, Cooking Light, Redbook, Family Circle and WebMD Magazine.

Carolyn O’Neil served as an adjunct professor of Journalism at Emory University in Atlanta.

Carolyn’s CNN reporting on the food and travel beats earned three James Beard Foundation Awards. She is a member of the James Beard Who’s Who in Food and Beverage.

In addition Carolyn is a judge for the James Beard Foundation Awards.

    

The American Heart Association, The Institute of Food Technologists, The American Dietetic Association and The National Restaurant Association have presented O’Neil with awards for food and nutrition education.

Carolyn O’Neil has a master’s degree in Nutrition with a specialization in Communication from Boston University and an undergraduate degree in Foods and Nutrition with a minor in English from Florida State University. She completed her Dietetic Internship at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, San Diego.

Carolyn is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
